Related to an ancient Egyptian belief; the goldenof the face gives divinity to

the dead person through a magical power to transfer divinity to the wearer.

1. The cartonnage apron was made to cover the legs of child’s mummy.

The upper part is decorated with the "khker" motives, which provides

protection. On the lower part a scene of the "four sons of Horus" is

depicted on a yellow background. These four deities’ function was to

protect the viscera of the deceased after embalming and accompany

the mummified body. They normally take the form of a standing

mummy and could be identified by the shape of the head and they

are: “Duamutef” with the head of a jackal, “Qebehsenuef” with the

head of a hawk, “Imsety” which takes the complete human shape, and

finally “Hapi” with the head of a baboon. As for the cartonnage of the

feet, its size is small and painted with the same colours ofthe apron

which confirms that it covered the feet of the same mummy.

2. Painted Cartonnage Mask with Gilded Face for a woman, the wig was

three layers and its covered with geometrical and floral motifs all

over. Moreover, two identical figures of God of the other world

Osiris” on the other sideis facing each other; are depicted on the two

frontal pieces of the wig appearing in sitting position upon a high

base wearing Atef crown.

3. Cartonnage Foot-case this piece has covered a mummy that its gender

is unknown; two identical of Mummification God “Anubis” are

depicted with a black line on the foot that was painted pink. The

frame of the case is decorated with some geometrical and floral

motives.
